The South Korean pianist Hyelim Kim is a Prizewinner of the Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey (audience prize, special prize, finalist prize), 8th Annarosa Taddei International Music Competition in Rome (first prize), Steinway&Sons Förderpreis in NRW (first prize), Lions Prize in Cologne (first prize) and 60th Arcangelo Speranza International Piano Competition in Tarento (2nd prize, audience prize, special prize) Italy.
Since making her orchestral debut at the age of 10 with the Romania-Bacau Orchestra, she has collaborated with numerous orchestras, including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, the Zermatt Festival Orchestra, the Orchester de Picardi, Kölner Orchestergesellschaft and the Chuncheon Youth Symphony Orchestra ect. She has performed and given piano recitals worldwide in Korea, France, Italy, and Germany at renowned concert halls, including the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Stadthalle Wuppertal. She also successfully gave her debut concert at the Festival Piano Folies du Touquet and the Festival Saint Riquier. She was also a soloist in the “Bechstein Young Professionals” series and the “WDR 3 Campus Concert,” which was broadcast on WDR 3 radio. In the 23/24 season she will give recitals in Europe, including her debut in the Elbphilharmonine as part of the New Year's Concert.
In 2023, her recording of Joachim Raff's Suite for Pianoforte No.3, op.72 was released on streaming platforms, as part of the “Stille-Liebe” project.
Born on December 31, 1996, she began learning piano at the age of five. After winning numerous competitions in her home country, she went to Germany to study with Georg Friedrich Schenck. She earned her bachelor's degree at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf and Master’s degree at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln, studying with Claudio Martinez Mehner. Since October 2023, She is studying her Postgraduate Degree in Cologne with Claudio Martinez Mehner as well. She has also had the privilege of working with world-renowned Pedagogues including Robert Levin, Grygori Gruzman, Dang Thai Son, Arie Vardi, Bernd Goetzke and Pavel Gililov.
